Hey, I'm Shak

My name is Shakiba, but my friends call me Shak. I’m an Iranian-Canadian Chocolatier living and creating in my hometown of Whitehorse, Yukon. My chocolates blend Persian-inspired flavours with foraged ingredients from the Yukon landscape.

Coming out of the pandemic, I was restless for a change, and felt a desire to learn about making chocolate. I spontaneously decided to take a professional chocolatier program, and jumped into making chocolate full time from Vancouver. Friends and family were my first customers, who cheered me on from my hometown of Whitehorse. It didn’t take long before this community called me home, and I brought my brand new business with me. I joined the local Fireweed Market and Shak’s Chocolate took off.

It’s been a non-stop ride of collaborating with old and new friends, and growing Shak’s Chocolate by joining hands with local northern business owners. With your support, my chocolates are now in seven stores in the Yukon, at Little Atlin Lodge, I’ve expanded into Alaska, and I’m on track to ship across Canada soon.
